Dresses are ordered. They will be roughly 60 dollars, but I will have an exact number on Tuesday.
Any help I can get in rounding people up and getting them to get their money to me is great. Having it on Wednesday for the meeting would be WONDERFUL.
Meeting: We need to have a dress rehearsal the first week in June. This means shoes, undies, ties, everything.
Be thinking about graduation roles. We have to solidify this on Tuesday.

You are now testing at Northside Baptist Church in the New Life Center. You do not need a pass to park, but you should park between the softball field and the new building. I am not familiar with this church so I can't really provide any further details. Ask your peers. Good luck!

Mr. Ryan DeVries

Dear Mr. DeVries:
SUBJECT: DEQ File No. 97-59-0023-1 T11N, R10W, Sec. 20, Montcalm Count-,),
It has come to the attention of the Department of Environmental Quality that there has been recent unauthorized activity on the above referenced parcel of property. You have been certified as the legal landowner and/or contractor who did the following unauthorized activity: Construction and maintenance of two wood debris dams across the outlet stream of Spring Pond.
A permit must be issued prior to the start of this type of activity. A review of the Department's files show that no permits have been issued. Therefore, the Department has determined that this activity is in violation of Part 301,. Inland Lakes and Streams, of the Natural Resource and Environmental Protection Act, Act 451 of the Public Acts of 1994, being sections 324.30101 to 324.30113 of the Michigan Compiled Laws annotated.
The Department has been informed that one or both of the dams partially, failed during a recent rain event, causing debris dams and flooding at downstream locations. We find that dams of this nature are inherently hazardous and cannot be permitted. The Department therefore orders you to cease and desist all unauthorized activities at this location, and to restore the stream to a free-flow condition by removing all wood and brush forming the dams from the strewn channel. All restoration work shall be completed no later than January 31, 1998. Please notify this office when the restoration has been completed so that a follow-up site inspection may be scheduled by our staff.
Failure to comply with this request, or any further unauthorized activity on the site, may result in this case being referred for elevated enforcement action.
We anticipate and would appreciate your full cooperation in this matter. Please feel free to contact me at this office if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
David L. Price

Dear Mr. Price:
Re: DEQ File No. 97-59-0023; T11N, R10W, Sec 20; Montcalm County
Your certified letter dated 12/17/97 has been handed to me to respond to. You sent out a great deal of carbon copies to a lot of people, but you neglected to include their addresses. You will, therefore, have to send them a copy of my response.
First of all, Mr. Ryan DeVries is not the legal landowner and/or contractor at 2088 Dagget, Pierson, Michigan - I am the legal owner and a couple of beavers are in the (State unauthorized) process of constructing and maintaining two wood "debris" dams across the outlet stream of my Spring Pond. While I did not pay for, nor authorize their dam project, I think they would be highly offended you call their skillful use of natural building materials "debris". I would like to challenge you to attempt to emulate their dam project any dam time and/or any dam place you choose. I believe I can safely state there is no dam way you could ever match their dam skills, their dam resourcefulness, their dam ingenuity, their dam persistence, their dam determination and/or their dam work ethic.
As to your dam request the beavers first must fill out a dam permit prior to the start of this type of dam activity, my first dam question to you is: are you trying to discriminate against my Spring Pond Beavers or do you require all dam beavers throughout this State to conform to said dam request? If you are not discriminating against these particular beavers, please send me completed copies of all those other applicable beaver dam permits. Perhaps we will see if there really is a dam violation of Part 301, Inland Lakes and Streams, of the Natural Resource and Environmental Protection Act, Act 451 of the Public Acts of 1994, being sections 324.30101 to 324.30113 of the Michigan Compiled Laws annotated. My first concern is - aren't the dam beavers entitled to dam legal representation? The Spring Pond Beavers are financially destitute and are unable to pay for said dam representation - so the State will have to provide them with a dam lawyer.
The Department's dam concern that either one or both of the dams failed during a recent rain event causing dam flooding is proof we should leave the dam Spring Pond Beavers alone rather than harassing them and calling their dam names. If you want the dam stream "restored" to a dam free-flow condition - contact the dam beavers - but if you are going to arrest them (they obviously did not pay any dam attention to your dam letter -- being unable to read English) - be sure you read them their dam Miranda first. As for me, I am not going to cause more dam flooding or dam debris jams by interfering with these dam builders. If you want to hurt these dam beavers - be aware I am sending a copy of your dam letter and this response to PETA. If your dam Department seriously finds all dams of this nature inherently hazardous and truly will not permit their existence in this dam State - I seriously hope you are not selectively enforcing this dam policy - or once again both I and the Spring Pond Beavers will scream prejudice!
In my humble opinion, the Spring Pond Beavers have a right to build their dam unauthorized dams as long as the sky is blue, the grass is green and water flows downstream. They have more dam right than I to live and enjoy Spring Pond. So, as far as I and the beavers are concerned, this dam case can be referred for more dam elevated enforcement action now. Why wait until 1/31/98? The Spring Pond Beavers may be under the dam ice then, and there will be no dam way for you or your dam staff to contact/harass them then.
In conclusion, I would like to bring to your attention a real environmental quality (health) problem; bears are actually defecating in our woods. I definitely believe you should be persecuting the defecating bears and leave the dam beavers alone. If you are going to investigate the beaver dam, watch your step! (The bears are not careful where they dump!)
Being unable to comply with your dam request, and being unable to contact you on your dam answering machine, I am sending this response to your dam office.
Sincerely,
Stephen L.Tvedten

We need to:
Get a group of about 7-8 marshals to stuff envelopes on Thursday afternoon for the academic booster's awards ceremony on the 14th. We need to remind people who signed up to marshal that event that they signed up. We need to settle who has a dress already, who wants to buy a new dress (or needs to if they can't get a used one) and who wants the 5 or so dresses I have. There are more out there but the girls don't seem very motivated to bring them in so we really can't wait much longer. We need to discuss Teacher Appreciation week and remind people of who they picked and what they are supposed to do. The men (boys) need to decide exactly what they want to wear. I need to remind students that SM are looked upon as role models and inappropriate prom behavior can be cause for removal so everyone needs to behave themselves. The girls need to discuss shoes. We need to remind people about Graduation Project nights and who signed up when and what they need to wear (nice clothes). I need two marshals for the senior dinner out at Bluewater. I can't think of anything else right now. Tell me if I have forgotten something you can think of.

sick
i have been battling some sort of sickness, most likely just a sinus infection or something ( although my mom jokes about the swine flu---- yeah right), since last Thursday and am still not feeling better. Although i am becoming very friendly with Tylenol Cold medicine, my body is still having trouble "stabilizing." I know that i missed your class today, and i wanted to see if you could either e-mail.. if possible..... or post what i missed in class. i would like to say that i will be in class tomorrow, however the likely hood is looking slim. I am going to try and stop by tomorrow to get any assignments, as well as to turn in my synthesis essay and my question in regards to Fallen Angel. Just thought that i would let you know ahead of time so that you do not think that i have gone "fishing." Thanks so much!

To preface your reading of Walter Dean Meyers’ Fallen Angels, you will be completing mini-research projects on topics related to Vietnam and this novel.
Ø Walter Dean Meyers (Allison and Valerie)
Ø Map of Vietnam (include Chu Lai, Tam Ky, Tan Son Nhut, Song Nha Ngu River (Casey and Brandon)
Ø Causes and Effects of Vietnam War (make this clear and concise) (Ally and Julian)
Ø US Protests of Vietnam War (cover soldiers’ views as well) (Andrew and Kathryn)
Ø Race issues affecting US Soldiers in Vietnam (changes in the drafting process) (Chelsea and Landen)
Ø Health problems facing American soldiers in Vietnam (include Agent Orange and napalm, physical and mental health issues (PTSD), homelessness) (Sarah and Raleigh)
Each of your presentations needs to be interesting and informative as well as visually appealing. You will have one FULL BLOCK (Wednesday) to work on this and then you will present them Thursday after your synthesis timed write. You will present in the order the topics appear on this list.
Tonight's assignment: Find at least ONE source and PRINT IT OUT about your assigned topic. You only have one block to do this project, so if you have a light load tonight, I would do some internet surfing. Cowabunga dude.
Monday, April 13, 2009
We are about to start reading Fallen Angels; just an FYI. We will do a little mini-research about Vietnam related issues and then we will start reading.
Timed Write this week: Probably Thursday and it will be a synthesis essay. Next week's will probably be a persuasive and a synthesis. Then I will add back in the rhetorical analysis.

Dear Mister Smarmy,
I am so very deeply apologetic that you feel a sense of rage and frustration with Thomas Swift’s A Modest Proposal. I can obviously see why you might feel this way towards a piece with such potentially offending language such like this text exemplifies, yet I believe the reason that you’re distraught is the fact that you have slightly misinterpreted the original message that Swift was intending to convey. The literary form the Swift used is called a satire, which by definition of the Merriam Webster’s Dictionary is: “A literary composition, in verse or prose, in which human folly and vice are held up to scorn, derision, or ridicule”. This is also exactly what he did; Thomas Swift examined the indecencies that are displayed from Englishmen, and landlords unto the Irish settlers. We learn this through his use of specific sarcasm just exactly how the Irish were being treated. Many Irishmen worked farms owned by Englishmen who charged high rents—so high that the Irish were frequently unable to pay them. Consequently, many Irish farming families continually lived on the edge of starvation, and through this problem sparked what we see as Swift’s “solution” to the troubles. He states that the (English) landlords “have already devoured most of the parents, [so they] seem to have the best title to the children” (para.12). Thomas Swift is not actually proposing a new generation of cannibalism, he is simply using outrageous irony and sarcasm in order to shed light on the harsh conditions that his Irish (Catholic) people have to endure on a daily basis, and hoping through use of these exorbitant words that the reader can see these unfavorable conditions, and if not help with the problem, at least understand and sympathize with these peoples struggles. So once again, I am terribly sorry that you have failed to see the true meaning of this essay, and do hope that with this added insight that you might be able to change your opinion from one of hate, to complacency, or even admiration for his writing style. I hope this letter will bring you some closure on the subject, and if you have further questions regarding this material or any future problems please feel free to contact me personally or any other member of the Jebidiah School Board.
Best Wishes,
Fredrick F. Farquarie

Gone to lunch with teacher friends.
Visited non-teacher friends.

Slept. A lot.
Went on the Azalea Festival Garden Tour with my mommy. Pretty flowers.
Planted an herb garden (sage, basil, lemon balm, parsley)
Planted a flower pot (snapdragons)
Shopped for spring clothes/makeup (wasn't entirely successful but I found a few things)
STill to do:
Manicure (with same polish)
Go to school and see what kind of state (disaster) my room is in since the whole spring cleaning team (do you read the newspaper?) came in.
Sleep some more.
Clean some more.
Spend some more time with my dog and friends and mom and sister.
Grade your persuasive timed writes.
Make an easter basket for my best friend. It's a tradition.

The emotions triggered in this picture are emotions of endurance, and strength. The picture of Lance Armstrong and the picture of the Subaru Outback are supposed to go hand in hand with each other. In hopes of the advertiser the reader should acknowledge that just like Lance Armstrong is tough in all sorts of ways so is the Outback. Lance Armstrong has gone through many “races” in his life, one in being fighting testicular cancer. Armstrong truly represents the word strength and if the Outback is just like Lance Armstrong then the reader starts to feel convinced that the Outback is the right car for them.
Ethos:
This advertisement uses a famous professional biker, Lance Armstrong as a way to convince it’s readers that the Subaru Outback is a tough car. The advertisers are saying that the SUV is just as tough as Lance Armstrong.
Logos:
At the bottom of this advertisement there are many facts about the Subaru Outback that could potentially convince the reader to look into buying the Outback such as the “toughest SUV”. If the advertiser is saying it is the toughest SUV as a fact then the logical appeal of the car would catch the reader’s eye as being top of the line.
Does everything work alright for this ad.

So as I was leaving to go feed my neighbor's cat this morning my dog decided to make a run for it. After leading me on a high speed chase around the four adjacent yards next to mine, she finally ran back in the house (I left the doors open in hopes she would return). Now she is banished to her crate while I work on national boards. She is trying her hardest to look pitiful. Whimpers and all. It's working. She looks like a candidate for that ASPCA commercial. All she needs is that Sarah McLauchlin (sp) song. Stupid Dog.

So far I have kept my head above water, but it is possible that as the deadline nears your timed writes or narratives or whatever is still in need of grading may get pushed (temporarily) to the back burner. Please be patient. After Spring Break is when we hit it the hardest anyway (seeing as that's the last month before the exam) and then I will be all yours to grade grade grade as much as I can.

BE MEAN AND TELL ME WHATS WRONG
(my personal narrative)
I’m going to marry that girl. I was only in third grade but I knew that she was the one. I heard my dad talking to some woman that was staying with us at the time about her being the one. I saw the way they looked at each other. He called it love. That didn’t even come close to what I felt now-sitting behind my big flip top elementary school desk focused intently on the back of her head as she listened to Mrs. Kanthro explain times tables. Now that was one thing that I just couldn’t understand, with all them numbers, I knew when you had 3+3 that they equaled 6. So why was she keep saying 3 and 3 equaled 9? The teacher was probably just didn’t get to bed early enough. Shucks, I should teach the class. At least I wouldn’t give the students all the wrong answers. I guess I will never understand this “multiplication” as she called it, but what I did understand was that I loved Paige Michaela Evans. I could picture it now- her long brown hair blowing swiftly behind her white veil as she walked down the aisle into my arms, “I do.” She would say, “I do to…” I would respond. “You do too what Julian?” Kyle asked me. He was my best friend, we have know each other ever since I moved to New York when I was a baby, and for some reason, we had the same class every year, but I wasn’t complaining. He even sat next to me right now. “Nothing”, I responded slightly embarrassed I had let my little fantasy sequence bubble over into reality (as it hopefully soon would). “Well pay attention, before she calls on you.”, “Thanks.” I said in return. That was good ole’ Kyle always looking out for me, just like I always looked out for him. We were blood brothers-we’ve taken the oath and everything. We even lived a block away from each other. Nevertheless, I was going to die before I told him that I had a crush on a girl (cause that was gross) let alone Paige Evans, the prettiest, way-out-of-my-league-girl ever, with teasing sure to ignite (not like she would like him either, with his short blond hair and geeky Harry Potter glasses). I tried to listen a little longer to Mrs. Kathro’s lesson, but every time I almost got it, Paige would drop her pencil or swoosh her hair, or even simply moving was enough for me to have a mental thought collision. I wonder how long God is allowing his angel to be on earth before he calls for her to return. RINGRING ringring. Whoops, time for lunch. Oh yea, I was wondering what was growling. Kyle and I sprinted top speed with the rest of the kids out of the classroom towards the lunchroom. It was first come first serve ‘round here. As got to the cafeteria, it seemed like no matter what we did that we were destined to be back of the line, despite our rush. But that was ok. We waited along the long wall and talked about Kyle’s new Lego set, it was some build it yourself medieval castle. He loved them things. He also told me that his mom got him the new NOW 3 CD. Lucky. Today the line seemed to move faster than usual. We reached the lunch ladies in no time. What’s on the menu I wonder? Yesterday’s meatloaf is today’s sloppy Joes, YUM. Except their was something else as well. Apple Slices Day! For ten cents extra you could get a little pack of apple slices with caramel. And I just so happen to ask my poppa for a dime this morning. Except this was a special apple slices day. This wasn’t for me-don’t get me wrong I love apple slices just as good as the next 8 year old kid- but today I was on a mission. A mission of the highest priority and danger: to infiltrate the girls table, and win the love of my life over with a gift from the heart. “A dollar and ten please.” I paid happily, leading my friend to our normal table out of reflex. We all sat down, and started joking and mixing food, cause we were cool. I tried to stay in the background, psyching myself up for the task at hand. I was doing it- it was now or never. I stood up. My friends were talking to me…asking me something, all I heard were distant mumbles. I felt a little uneasy, like my legs were still being broken in, and begin to understand how the racing horses felt with those blinders on the sides of their eyes. I couldn’t see anything else-but her. Eventually I forced one foot in front of the other and in what felt like a few days walk, made it over their. By this time, everyone in the whole cafeteria had theirs eyes in my direction. The girls table all turned around to see what this tall, pale, goofy, red-headed kid was doing hovering behind them like Casper the creepy ghost. She was the last to look. I think she knew I had come for her. As she turned, my muscles began to tense up and I froze. They all had that girlish half-smirk on their face where you can’t tell if there are laughing at you or not. I still couldn’t speak. I almost forgot why I was there. Then I slowly began to lift my hands up in the form of a bowl, with the apples slices placed in the middle, much like giving an offering to a holy shrine. I looked her in the eyes and waited for her to take it. I was throwing myself into the wind and hoping that Paige would grab me and not let go. She didn’t. I was hoping that my actions were efficient enough, because I was pretty sure that I had gone mute. I stood there. Nothing happened. As the seconds ticked pass, I realized that she hated me, or so it seemed. She wasn’t accepting my offering. She began to slowly giggle, and that laugh only elevated as her friends joined in. So here I was in the middle of the cafeteria frozen like a retarded Greek statue, and being laughed at under these school fluorescent lights, which seemed to burn brighter and brighter with each additional laugh. I couldn’t take this anymore, I had to leave this place of torment. Like a rubber band being stretched out farther and farther, I had to be let go eventually-now was my time. I dropped the delicious fruit treats and watched them fall to the ground in slow motion and hit the floor like porcelain. Then I didn’t know what else to do, I couldn’t stand there, god knows I couldn’t talk her, so I did the only thing I knew how to do- I ran. I bolted out of the cafeteria as fast as my elementary school, Rugrat watching, child legs would take me. At first I didn’t even know where I was going, but when I came to I was outside on the recess playground, I took a moment to compose myself and gather my thoughts before I went off back to class. Mission: Success. As I walked back to the class all I could think was that she totally liked me; I was a total pimp.

Please don't forget to get your permission forms signed. I would really like you to be one of my videos. I chose your class for the whole class discussion because I think you will be wonderful at it. I think many of you understand this book and we are finally together again as a class to be able to discuss something. I was so disappointed I didn't get to discuss OMAM or The Great Gatsby with you because I LOVE LOVE LOVE those books. I hope you can make it on Friday. BTW-If we are filming on Friday I would have to push the vocab test back to Monday. We wouldn't have time for both. If too many of you are going to be absent, I will have to cancel the filming-we are already so small I am not sure my graders would believe my "whole class discussion" was really only six people. Or.........do I save the discussion for Monday and do the test on Friday as planned. Now that's a possibility. We could just set the chapter that everyone should be in by Monday..............hm........I think THAT'S what I'll do. Okay:
Vocab Test on Friday
Discussion for TEWWG on Monday. I know it's 2 days after the quiz, but you'll deal. It gives you time to think about what you want to talk about. We should still have time to edit narratives.
im dissapointed in you guys
i heard some of you peoples.... decided to cheat of my paper.
except you erased my right answers and put the wrong ones, and then spread
those false testimonies to the rest of the class....

In the 2008 administration 306,479 students took the exam. The mean score was a 2.82
The grade distribution for 2008 was:
Score-Percent
5-8.7%
4-18.2%
3-31.4%
2-30.5%
1-11.3%
So, the scores in my class pretty much reflect the national averages. It looks like most people make 2s and 3s.
Paragraph 1
1. After sunset…I walked out into the desert….
2. Light was thinning; the scrub’s dry savory odors were sweet on the cooler air.
3. In this, the first pleasant moment for a walk after long blazing hours, I thought I was the only thing abroad.
4. Abruptly, I stopped short.
Paragraph 2
1. The other lay rigid, as suddenly arrested, his body undulant; the head was not drawn back to strike, but was merely turned a little to watch what I would do.
2. It was a rattlesnake…and knew it.
3. I mean that where a six-foot blacksnake thick as my wrist, capable of long-range attack and armed with powerful fangs, will flee at sight of a man, the rattler felt no necessity of getting out of anybody’s path.
4. He held his ground in calm watchfulness; he was not even rattling yet, much less was he coiled; he was waiting for me to show my intentions.
Paragraph 3
1. My first instinct was to let him go his way and I would go mine, and with this he would have been well content.
2. I have never killed an animal I was not obliged to kill; the sport in taking life is a satisfaction I can’t feel.
3. But I reflected that there were children, dogs, horses at the ranch, as well as men and women lightly shod; my duty, plainly, was to kill the snake.
4. I went back to the ranch house, got a hoe, and returned.
Paragraph 4
1. The rattler had not moved; he lay there like a live wire.
2. But he saw the hoe.
3. Now indeed his tail twitched, the little tocsin sounded; he drew back his head and I raised my weapon.
4. Quicker than I could strike, he shot into a dense bush and set up his rattling.
5. He shook and shook his fair but furious signal, quite sportingly warning me that I had made an unprovoked attack, attempted to take his life, and that if I persisted he would have no choice but to take mine if he could.
6. I listened for a minute to this little song of death.
7. It was not ugly, though it was ominous.
8. It said that life was dear, and would be dearly sold.
9. And I reached into the paper-bag bush with my hoe and, hacking about, soon dragged him out of it with his back broken.
Paragraph 5
1. He struck passionately once more at the hoe; but a moment later his neck was broken, and he was soon dead.
2. Technically, that is; he was still twitching, and when I picked him up by the tail, some consequent jar, some mechanical reflex made his jaws gape and snap once more—proving that a dead snake may still bite.
3. There was blood in his mouth and poison dripping from his fangs; it was all a nasty sight, pitiful now that it was done.
Paragraph 6
1. I did not cut off the rattles for a trophy; I let him drop into the close green guardianship of the paper-bag bush.
2. Then for a moment I could see him as I might have let him go, sinuous and self-respecting in departure over the twilit sands.

Second chunk
Commentary-- The author conveys the narrator as feeling happy and filled with excitement while thinking his relationship with his brothers might be taking a positive turn.
Commentary-- The reader quickly realizes that the bothers relationship is damaged ans will never result in the positive turn the narrator longs for.
Homework
Topic--The authors detail potrays a nostalgic tone by using audio and visual imagery.
Example--"The boys swam in silence" but tried to make the akwardness cice by "telling stories to each other..." of the old times they used to have.
Commentary- The boys felt extremely unpleasnt with one another as it would be if you entered an elevator with a couple of unknown persons and rode it all the way to the tenth floor being able to hear a penny drop.
Commentay(I feel like this is weak)-- The reader feels as though the boys envy the old times they used to have together; laughing and being able to talk about anything without the conversation feeling hollow.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Stephen King's opinion may drive a stake through the heart of "Twilight" author, Stephenie Meyer.
In an interview with USA Weekend, the bestselling author compared Meyer with J.K. Rowling , the author of the Harry Potter series.
According to Stephen, "Both Rowling and Meyer, they're speaking directly to young people... The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can't write worth a darn. She's not very good."
Meeooww!
While Stephen may not be a fan of Stephenie's writing, he understands the appeal of the series.
"People are attracted by the stories, by the pace and in the case of Stephenie Meyer, it's very clear that she's writing to a whole generation of girls and opening up kind of a safe joining of love and sex in those books. It's exciting and it's thrilling and it's not particularly threatening because it's not overtly sexual."
He further explains, "A lot of the physical side of it is conveyed in things like the vampire will touch her forearm or run a hand over skin, and she just flushes all hot and cold. And for girls, that's a shorthand for all the feelings that they're not ready to deal with yet."
What do you think?

Tone down my sarcasm even when students use it or when I think a student knows I am kidding. I cannot promise to eradicate it from my speech because it is how I communicate, but I can try to take the edge off.
Show students their grades more often, even if I don't let them keep the assignment. Any time a student wants to see grades I can run a progress report or show them their average.
Try to mention my last year's students less. I thought I was doing it to show you guys methods that have worked in the past (using the blog, conferencing, etc.) but I see that instead it has come across as me idolizing them and making you feel you aren't equal in their talents and abilities. You are.
Those are my big three. I heard the complaints about not treating students fairly or me not liking my students and those aren't easily fixable. Treating students equally is not always fair and therefore I feel there will always be some disparity in how students feel I treat the class. I hope to work on that with individual students. As far as me not liking students, it's just blatantly not true. I love that Mandy is such a book-lover and while it sometimes DRIVES ME CRAZY that she's reading while she shouldn't be, I love that she has such a passion for it. I love that Raleigh can almost always be counted on to be forthright and positive. He usually doesn't make excuses for himself and is a strongly opinionated male who isn't afraid to show it. I love that Ally has learned humility at such a young age. I see her catch things very quickly or get frustrated with some off-task behavior, but she catches herself and takes a step back and lets others learn however it works for them. I love that Kathryn always manages to smile and be pleasant, even in the face of an awful reading assignment. I also love that she isn't afraid to think out loud even if that means letting others hear her run through incorrect answers or funny thoughts before she gets to the right answer. I love that Casey is such an active listener (except when she's messing with her phone :) ) and always makes me feel like she is listening and giving me her undivided attention. I also love that while she seems shy and doesn't really volunteer her opinion, when called upon she has something to say. I also love that she likes sushi. I love that Brandon has managed to become the class whipping boy yet somehow he takes it like a champ. I feel the need to protect him sometimes but then he just feel punished :( I love that out of everyone in the class, he isn't afraid to ask a question despite knowing that one of his friends is probably going to berate him before I can answer. That's bravery. I love that Julian has adopted such a quirky style so young and doesn't seem influenced by others. Learning to be yourself is hard and he seems good at it already. I also love that he uses our vocabulary when he talks and he asks really good questions. They are always specific enough to show me he really understands and they guide me right to what he needs to know. Love it. I love that Valerie takes initiative. She likes to be in charge and can usually do a good job in that role. A smart woman who doesn't sit back and let others do things for her all the time is honorable. There is a sense of accomplishment in achieving things for yourself. I see her dedication to things like spirit club and I appreciate her leadership. I love that Landen always seems to be having a good time. I feel like in her head, things are always more entertaining than they are to me and I envy the ability to have fun as much as it seems like she does. I also love the way she picks on Julian when it seems like no one else can. I love that Sarah isn't afraid to stop asking questions until she's sure she understands. Some kids give up if my initial response isn't helpful but she keeps firing until she gets it. That's the way to truly learn. I also love her hair. I love that Andrew is such a daydreamer yet somehow has managed to do really well athletically and academically. I also love his planner. Every time I say a day or assign something, out pops the planner and I admire such organization and memory to think to do that. It works too; he always has his work. I love that Chelsey is such a team player. With so many "chiefs" in our class, it would be a disaster if there weren't a few people willing to go with the flow and she does it pleasantly. She seems to work well with everyone and that's commendable. That leaves me with Allison. Sadly, this little journaling exercise has led me to discover that I know relatively little about Allison. I will make it my mission to learn about her as I continue to learn about the rest of you.
